The following are four Psalms that were written by members of the congregation of Invercargill Central Baptist Church at night church service looking at Psalms. They were four kinds of Psalms we looked at and people were invited to write a couple of sentences for each type of Psalm. There were psalms of creation, connection, co-orindates, & confidence. So here they are:

A Psalm of Creation
On wings from heaven above,
flying high like a snowwhite dove
filling our hearts with so much love.

At the start it was just me.
My mess and sin got worse.
You God came in and all that changed-for ever.

a new baby born.
What a wonder. Glorious

Lord, when I behold the glory of your creation,
I understand the glory you've created me,
and pray you help me see your glory every day

A Psalm of Confidence
even though I'm overwhelmed and tired
and see no way out;I know you will rescue me.
I will call on you and you will answer.

I am secure in knowing that you are God
I am secure in knowing that you as my guide will never fail
I used to look in the mirror and only see a handsome devil looking back
now I look in the mirror and see a great man of God.

Lord, at times your name seems to be 'mystery',
but when I'm in dark places, the darkness becomes 'luminous' because you are there.

You showed me a track Lord and asked me if I would/could do it, I said yes.
It was harder than I thought. The mud holes were deep, the rock sections long, people got stuck,
people fell away but you asked me to keep going, and I did, you were, you are faithful.
the clipboards are filling up.
Praise your name.

A Psalm of coordinates
I like going my way. When I go your way Lord it gets better and so do I.
Take me, turning upside down
and set me back on your path

A Psalm of connection
Lord you seek us,
from above you look with love
on us, your children.

I'm joining up the Lord
and I want to be just like you
help me each day

thank you for your faithfulness God.
That even when I choose to take wrong paths
you never leave me or wash your hands of me
but weep when I weep and
have open arms when I return.

The Lord said "do not worry for I am always beside you,
though you may find it hard and challenging,
I will never push you beyond your limits.
Trust in me and I will help you to go beyond the barrier in front of you

Lord you have guided my family for many generations.
I will praise and honour your faithfulness to those
who went before me and showed me your ways.

As a newborn child would connect to his bosom.
 So we to our father
