What on earth am I here for?

 

·         Planned for God’s pleasure : worship

·         Formed for God’s family : community

·         Created to be like Jesus : grow

·         Shaped for service : serve

·         Made for mission : reach

 

People deeply love by God

 

·         Love God more

·         Love people more

·         Love more people

 

Not a chore or duty

Not done by yourself

 

Why doesn’t God call down the curtain on human history?

 

Because:

 

·         God wants more people in his family

·         Lost people matter to God

Jesus came to earth on a rescue mission

·         To seek and to save those who are lost

 

We who know Gods love are partners with God in his rescue mission

“as the Father sent me so I am sending you….”

 

Our role

·         What we say  :  WORD

·         What we do  :  DEED

·         Who we are  :  SIGN

 

 

 

WORD

 

                “you will be my witnesses

                in Jerusalem (home city)

                in Judea and Samaria (neighbouring provinces)

                and to the ends of the earth”

A witness tells the facts as they know them

Your greatest asset is your story

 

 

DEED

 

                Mt 5:16  “let your light shine before people

                that they may see your good deeds

                and praise your Father in Heaven”

 

Good deeds are lights in a dark world

They matter

 

 

SIGN

                A sign points to a greater reality

                The greatest sign of God at work is a loving

                Christian community

·         Which points to a loving, gracious God

·         Which says “you’re welcome”

“come on in”

“there’s room for one more in God’s family”

 

 

An invitation to come, eat, drink and be family

 

 

Communion:     who can participate?

 

·         Baptised believers?

·         Members?

·         Members in good standing?

·         Sinners who know their need for forgiveness

·         People on a journey
